  • A Warm Welcome

    MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL

We are a multi-academy trust for ALL with a focus on Alternative Provision, PRUs and specialist settings. We came into being in 2019 as part of a discussion with a number of similar provisions including a provision in Sutton, Croydon and Kent. We have developed the Trust to provide a strong, sustainable, supportive and vocal home/family for these specialist provisions.

  • 'At Alternative Learning Trust, Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Justice go right to the heart of everything that we stand for.'

Sam Guy - Chair of Trustees

  • 'Our job is to be developing inclusive practice, and that doesn't just mean in our own provisions. It means we need to impact and influence all the schools around us in each of our local authorities and regions.'

    Emma Bradshaw - CEO

  • Why DEIJ is so important - 'So many of the children we serve have had all sorts of things that have happened to them....having that safe environment for them to be able to be themselves, to flourish....that's why it's important.'

    Tim Pollen - Trustee

  • 'A fully inclusive organisation or community will thrive much better than one that's just putting up lots of barriers and stopping people getting the best out of themselves.'

    Marion O'Hara - Trustee

  • 'It's not just a case of being aware of what we should be doing, but actually taking that next step forward and integrating it into everything we do.'

    James Munro - Trustee

  • 'As a trust, we have a legal duty set out in the Equality Act 2010. Everyone who is captured by the nine protected characteristics can come and thrive in this organisation, and that's really important to us.'

    Jenny Barrow - Trustee

  • 'To me, DEIJ is about understanding how you deal with different characteristics and how you can mitigate the effects society sometimes has on them.'

    David Johnston - Trustee

  • '... if we can create an environment wherein people can feel like they belong, that goes one step of the way towards creating an environment where young people can learn and hopefully fulfil their potential.'

    Edem Wornoo - Trustee
